4-Methoxybenzyl chloride was used also used in the synthesis of 1-naphthamide and diarymethanes via Suzuki cross-coupling with postassium aryltrifluoroborates. It was also used to benzylate the aniline nitrogen.
Purification of 4-anisyl chloride is by fractional distillation under vacuum, and the middle fraction is redistilled at 10-6 mm at room temperature by intermittent cooling of the receiver in liquid N2
