5,5-二甲基乙內(nèi)酰脲，又稱乙酰甲基脲、5,5-二甲基海因(DMH)。白色棱狀晶體或結晶性粉末，無異味，易溶于水、乙醇、乙醚、乙酸乙酯，略溶于異丙醇、丙酮、丁酮，而不溶于脂肪烴和三氯乙烯。
該產(chǎn)品是用途很廣的有機合成中間體，可用于合成多種精細化工產(chǎn)品。如氨基酸、特種環(huán)氧樹脂、水溶性樹脂、消毒劑1,3-二溴-5,5-二甲基海因、1-溴-3-氯-5,5-二甲基海因；可與金屬有機化合物反應制取殺蟲劑、殺螨劑；也可用于電鍍、化妝品添加劑；由于其易溶于有機溴溶劑，可用作溴化劑；用作甲基丙烯酸聚合時的催化劑和穩(wěn)定劑；其衍生物的用途也很廣泛。
