FNII14 is a peptide derived from the 14th type III fibronectin like (FN-III) repeat sequence of fibronectin. It is a polypeptide composed of 21 amino acids, and this functional site is usually hidden but exposed by conformational changes and proteolytic cleavage. FNII14 can convert β 1-integrin from its active form to its inactive form, leading to functional inactivation of integrin signaling through a different mechanism than traditional antagonists. Peptide FNII14 has a strong anti-cancer effect on various solid tumors and hematological malignancies in vitro and in vivo by inactivating β 1-integrin, including inhibiting survival, proliferation, migration, invasion, and myc expression, enhancing other anti-cancer activities, inhibiting metastasis, inhibiting cell adhesion mediated resistance to cytarabine, and inhibiting tumor attacks.
