人血漿激肽釋放酶是一種絲氨酸蛋白酶，在肝臟中合成，通過與高分子量（HMW）激肽原結合或作為游離酶原在血漿中循環(huán)。該酶切割Lys-Arg和Arg-Ser鍵。它在與帶負電荷的表面結合后，通過相互反應激活因子XII。它還從HMW激肽原中釋放緩激肽，并可能通過將前腎素轉化為腎素在腎素-血管緊張素系統(tǒng)中發(fā)揮作用。
