WDR45B (WD repeat domain 45B) is a member of the WD40 repeat-containing protein family, known for its role in mediating protein-protein interactions and participating in diverse cellular processes. It shares structural homology with WDR45. a gene linked to beta-propeller protein-associated neurodegeneration (BPAN), a subtype of neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation (NBIA). WDR45B is implicated in autophagy, a critical lysosomal degradation pathway, though its exact molecular mechanisms remain less characterized compared to WDR45. Studies suggest it may influence autophagosome formation or maturation, potentially interacting with core autophagy machinery like ATG2 proteins.

Antibodies targeting WDR45B are essential tools for investigating its expression, localization, and function in both physiological and pathological contexts. They enable detection via techniques such as Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
