該基因?qū)儆诎准毎庖咔虻鞍讟邮荏w（LIR）家族成員，位于19號染色體q13.4區(qū)域的基因簇中。其編碼蛋白歸屬于LIR受體的B類亞家族，這類受體包含2-4個胞外免疫球蛋白結(jié)構(gòu)域、1個跨膜結(jié)構(gòu)域及2-4個胞質(zhì)內(nèi)基于酪氨酸的免疫受體抑制基序（ITIMs）。該受體在免疫細胞表面表達，通過結(jié)合抗原呈遞細胞上的MHC I類分子，傳遞抑制性信號以阻斷免疫反應(yīng)的激活。其功能在于調(diào)控炎癥反應(yīng)和細胞毒性作用，從而精確引導(dǎo)免疫應(yīng)答并限制自身反應(yīng)性。目前已發(fā)現(xiàn)該基因存在編碼不同亞型的多種轉(zhuǎn)錄變異體。
