該蛋白酶可降解細(xì)胞外基質(zhì)，被認(rèn)為在乳腺癌侵襲轉(zhuǎn)移過程中發(fā)揮作用。其具有類胰蛋白酶活性特征：能夠特異性切割以精氨酸（Arg）或賴氨酸（Lys）為P1位點的合成底物。該酶通過激活絲氨酸蛋白酶prostasin（PRSS8）及加工聚絲蛋白（FLG），參與角質(zhì)形成細(xì)胞的終末分化過程；可高效水解P1位點為Arg/Lys的各類合成底物，且在P2位點傾向選擇丙氨酸（Ala）和甘氨酸（Gly）等小側(cè)鏈氨基酸。
