Terephthalic Acid (PTA, CAS 100-21-0) is a premium, high-purity white crystalline powder or needle-like solid. It is insoluble in water, ether, and chloroform, slightly soluble in ethanol, and readily soluble in alkaline media or Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO). As a highly consequential aromatic dicarboxylic acid derivative within the global petrochemical matrix, PTA serves as the irreplaceable bedrock for polymer processing. Chemically reacted via polycondensation with Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG), PTA acts as the primary precursor to synthesize Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET).
