IRW is an orally active peptide extracted from egg white, with angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory properties. It is a small molecule peptide composed of three amino acids. IRW can prevent non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) induced by high-fat diet (HFD) by regulating liver lipid metabolism and increasing mitochondrial content. IRW can reduce liver triglyceride content and lipid droplet size. IRW can increase liver mitochondrial complex and citrate synthase activity, phosphorylation of 5 '- AMP activated protein kinase, and abundance of microsomal triglyceride transfer protein. IRW can increase the phosphorylation of acetyl CoA carboxylase and mitochondrial complexes, which can be used in inflammation related research.
