Main Usage
Regrowing hair in patients who have gradually thinning hair or gradual hair loss on the top of the head.
Description
Minoxidil is an antihypertensive vasodilator medication, which also slows hair loss and promotes hair regrowth in some people, and it is available as a generic medication and over the counter for the treatment of androgenic alopecia, a form of hair loss, in men and women.
Application:
Minoxidil solution and foam are used to help hair growth in the treatment of male pattern baldness. It is not used for baldness at the front of the scalp or receding hairline in men. The foam and 2 percent minoxidil solution is also used to help hair growth in women with thinning hair.
Minoxidil applied is widely used for hair loss treatment, which is effective in helping promote hair growth in both men and women with androgenic alopecia. About 40% of men experience hair regrowth after 3-6 months. It must be used indefinitely for continued support of existing hair follicles and the maintenance of any experienced hair regrowth
Minoxidil foam (for men) is a vasodilator. Exactly how minoxidil foam works to regrow scalp hair is not known. It may dilate blood vessels in the scalp. This may improve hair follicle function and stimulate scalp hair growth.
