Methyl anthranilate is a food-grade flavouring and fragrance additive which serves as an effective, non-lethal bird repellent in a variety of situations. It naturally repels birds through taste and smell. This non-toxic substance stimulates the birds’ trigeminal nervous system (a sensory pathway similar to that of smell), prompting them to leave the treated area swiftly. However, it does not cause any harm to the birds.
