Nobiletin (NOB) chemically known as 5,6,7,8,3′,4′-hexamethoxyflavone is a kind of chromocor compound extracted from Rutaceae citrus fruit (CitrusreticulaiaBlanco) and peel, by textural classification, belong to polymethoxyflavone.

Recent evidences show that Nobiletin is a multifunctional pharmaceutical agent. It has been proved biological activitys such as having antitumor, antiviral, blood sugar lowering, neuroprotective, its active anticancer report mainly for breast carcinoma, hepatocarcinoma, gastric cancer, pulmonary carcinoma etc., but have no its prevention and therapy for mouth neoplasm.

Nobiletin occurs naturally in several food sources. One of which is Citrus Aurantium which is otherwise known as Bitter orange. Citrus Aurantium contains flavones such as apigenin, luteolin, and diosmetin. However, its Nobiletin content is believed to be primarily responsible for the major health benefits associated with it. Other food sources of Nobiletin include lemon, tangerine, and grapefruit.

It is claimed that Nobiletin supplementation may support brain function and prevent the development of Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia. This is because it helps reduce oxidative stress in neurons and hyperphosphorylation of tau. It was also found that Nobiletin supplementation may improve cognitive deficits and pathologic features associated not only with Alzheimer’s disease but also with Parkinson’s Disease and other neurodegenerative conditions.
