Levomefolate calcium (also known as L-5-Methyletrahydrofolate calcium) is the organic calcium salt of (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate. It is a member of the folate group of vitamin B9. It is an oral prescription folic acid supplement that is involved in a variety of cellular functions including DNA reproduction, cysteine cycling and homocysteine regulation. It is primarily used in the treatment of affective disorders and related conditions such as depression. It is also used in scientific studies related to cardiovascular disease.
