The molecule consists of adenine connected to the ribose moiety via a β-N-glycosidic bond. The deoxyadenosine structure incorporates a deoxyribose moiety. This differs from adenosine. In deoxyadenosine, the hydroxyl group at the 2' position of the sugar moiety is replaced by a hydrogen atom. This substitution transforms the ribose moiety into a deoxyribose moiety.
