Why does my hexamethylenediamine turn red?
Jun 24,2026
This is because hexamethylenediamine undergoes self-oxidation. When exposed to trace amounts of air, high temperatures, or sunlight, hexamethylenediamine rapidly forms complex oligomeric azo discoloration impurities. While this may not affect the resin's mechanical strength, it does reduce its aesthetic appeal.
