Steps:
Intermediate H: 1-(Benzyloxy)-4-nitrobenzene
Sodium hydride (60 % in mineral oil) (0.198 g,4.96 mmol) was suspended in DMF (5 mL) under nitrogen and cooled to 0 °C. Benzyl alcohol (0.42 mL,4.1 mmol) was added,followed by 4- fluoronitrobenzene (0.50 g,3.5 mmol) in DMF (2 mL). The reaction mixture was warmed to r.t. and stirred for 2h. After addition of the reaction mixture to water (~10 mL),the suspension was stirred for 15 min and filtered. The solid was washed with water,and dried under vacuum to yield the title compound as a yellow solid (808 mg,99%). NMR dH(500 MHz,CDCb) 8.27 - 8.21 (m,2H),7.48 - 7.36 (m,5H),7.09 - 7.02 (m,2H),5.19 (s,2H). LCMS: (Method A) 4.24 min,(mass not observed).
