EXAMPLE 9 90 g of p-chlorophenylphosphonic acid dimethyl ester were heated in the apparatus described in Example 1 at 110°C. At this temperature phosgene was introduced for 5.5 hours and subsequently the reaction mixture was distilled. 86 g of p-chlorophenylphosphonic acid dichloride were obtained, b.p. 91°-93°C.0.2 mm Hg corresponding to a yield of 92 percent of the theory.
