Step 6 To a solution of Compound 17 (2.10 g, 7.47 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran:methanol (1:1, 30 mL), aqueous 2 mol/L sodium hydroxide solution (7.47 mL, 14.9 mmol) was added. The solution was then stirred at room temperature for one and a half hours. Water was added to the reaction solution, acidified, and then extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was dried with anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and then concentrated in vacuo to yield Compound 18 (2.02 g, 100%) . LC/MS (Method D): 1.21 min, [M+H]+ = 268 1H-NMR (DMSO-d6) δ: 12.58 (1H, brs), 6.58 (1H, s), 4.61 (2H, s), 4.16 (2H, t, J = 5.5 Hz), 3.82 (2H, t, J = 5.5 Hz), 1.44 (9H, s).
