6 mL of the catalyst D (20 to 30 mesh) was put into a fixed bed reactor and tested in a continuous trickle-bed mode. 4 wt % of 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediketone was hydrogenated in the above reactor with hydrogen. The hydrogenation factors are listed below: the solvent was n-butanol (BuOH), the WHSV of the feed was 0.24 hr-1, the liquid hourly space velocity (LHSV) of the feed was 4 hr-1, the hydrogenation temperature was 135° C., the hydrogenation pressure was 50 kg/cm2, in which the hydrogen and the 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediketone had a molar ratio of 69. The hydrogenation result was analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) as indicated below: the conversion rate of the 2,2,4,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutanediketone was 99.8%, and the selectivity of the CBDO in the products was 10%, as shown in Table 3.
