Steps:
A typical procedure is described for the synthesis of (naphthalen-2-yloxy)-acetic acid hydrazide 5a
General procedure: Hydrazine hydrate (4, 0.045mol) was added to the solution of compound 3a (0.03mol) in ethanol (15mL) and stirred the reaction mixture at room temperature for 4h. The completion of the reaction was monitored by TLC using hexane: ethyl acetate (2:1) mixture as the mobile phase and allowed to stand overnight. The white crystals of compound 5a formed were filtered, washed, dried and recrystallized from ethanol. Similarly compounds 5b-j were synthesized by employing the above method35.
