Steps:
2.2 Step 2:
To a suspension of 2-(2-bromophenyl)-2-((trimethylsilyl)oxy)acetonitrile (Step 1, 283 g, 1.0 mol) in THF (1000 mL) was added LAH (1M, 1200 mL) under ice-salt bath. The reaction was stirred at RT overnight and quenched with Na2SO4·10H2O. Filtered and concentrated to give a residue which was purified by column chromatography (silica gel, DCM:MeOH=10:1, Rf=0.4) to give 2-amino-1-(2-bromophenyl)ethan-1-ol (120 g 55%) as a yellow solid.
