Hydrazine hydrate (12g, 243mmol) was heated to 60°C, a solution of 2-chlorobromobenzyl (5.0g, 24.3mmol) in ethanol (120mL) was added dropwise, and stirring was continued for 1 hour after the addition was completed.After cooling to room temperature, excess hydrazine hydrate and ethanol were removed by rotary evaporation. The crude product was purified by column chromatography (dichloromethane/methanol=40/1-10/1) to obtain 2-chlorobenzylhydrazine (3.8 g, yield: 98%).
