Preparation 1; 2-Bromo- 1 -(2-fluoro-5-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-propan- 1 -one; Slowly add a solution of bromine (3.34 g, 0.95 equiv) in dichloromethane (80.00 mL)to a solution of 2-fluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)propiophenone (5 g, 22.03 mmol) in dichloromethane (80 mL) is with stirring so that the brown color of bromine just disappears. Wash the reaction mixture with saturated NaHCθ3, dry over Na₂SO₄ and concentrate to provide 6.22 g of crude material. MS(ES): m/z = 301.2 [M+2H].
