General experimental procedure for the synthesis of 3-aryloxypropanoic acids (3a-3o)
General procedure: Mixture of 3-aryloxypropane nitrile (2a-2o) (2 mmol) and conc. HCl (1-2 mL) is heated at 80-90 °C for about 1- 2 h (after monitoring the reaction completion by TLC). Cooled the reaction mass and added ice water to obtain solid 3-aryloxypropanoic acid (3a-3o) as solids which is filtered and dried to be taken up for the subsequent step.
