To a 20-L round-bottom flask was added a solution of 2,4-dimethyl-5-nitropyridine (624 g, 4101.20 mmol, 1 equiv) in MeOH (8 L) and Pd/C (62.4 g, 0.143 equiv). To this solution, Tk (g) was introduced. The resulting solution was stirred for 48 h at room temperature. The solids were filtered out and the filtrate was concentrated to provide the title compound.
