Synthesis of 3- cyclopropylmethoxy-4-methoxybenzoic acid
To a 100ml single neck round bottom flask was added 3-cyclopropylmethoxy-4-methoxybenzoate Z-2b (1.18g, 5mmol), potassium hydroxide (1.12g, 20mmol), methanol (9ml) and water (1ml), the reaction was stirred at room temperature 12h, thin layer chromatography (TLC) detecting progress of the reaction, the reaction was completed, ice the reaction solution was acidified with concentrated hydrochloric acid to PH = 2, a lot of white in the solution precipitated solid was filtered and dried to give a white solid 3- cyclopropylmethoxy-4-methoxybenzoic acid (Z-3,1.07g, yield 97%).
