3-Ethoxycyclohex-2-en-1-one: S311
To a solution of 1,3-cyclohexanedione (S2) (5.0 g, 45 mmol) in EtOH (50 mL) was added conc.HCl (1 mL) at room temperature. After 24 h of stirring at the same temperature, sat. NaHCO3 wasadded to quench the reaction, and the mixture was transferred to a separatory funnel. The productwas extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic phases were dried over MgSO4 and filtered. Thesolvent was removed under reduced pressure to afford S3 (6.2 g, quant) as a colorless oil.
