with 10% Pd/C;hydrogen in methanol at 25;

Steps:

16 3-Methyl-quinolin-8-amine.

A mixture of 3-methyl-8-nitrquinoline (300 mg, 1.60 mmol) and palladium on carbon (10%, 30 mg) in MeOH (10 mL) was stirred at 25 °C under hydrogen atmosphere for 3 h. The reaction mixture then was filtered over celite and the residue was washed with MeOH. The reaction was filtered through celite and evaporated in vacuo to give crude product (250 mg, 1.58 mmol, 99% yield), which was used for next step without further purification.
