Steps:
4-(1-naphthyl)-3-thiosemicarbazide, NfTs.
To a solution of 2.51 g(13.6 mmol) of 1-naphthylisothiocyanate in 20 mL of diethyl ether wasadded 1.0 mL (20.6 mmol) of hydrazine monohydrate. The mixture wasstirred for 30 min at room temperature. The white solid was filtered off,washed thoroughly with diethyl ether and vacuum-dried (2.88 g, 98%).δH(300 MHz, DMSO-d6, Me4Si) 9.23 (1H, s, H6A), 7.99-7.51 (7H, m, H6-H13), 7.49 (1H, s, H5), 3.35 (2H, s, NH2).
