Steps:
General procedure for the deep eutectic solvent promoted synthesis of pyrazole-4-carbonitrile derivatives
General procedure: Benzaldehyde derivative (1 mmol), malononitrile (1 mmol) and hydrazine derivative (1 mmol) were added consecutively to the reaction vessel containing 1 g of the freshly preformed glucose:urea-(1:5). The reaction mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for specified times (Table 3) and monitored by thin layer chromatography analysis using various mixtures of ethyl acetate and n-hexane as eluent. After completion of the reactions, water (10 ml) was added to the reaction mixture and the mixture was stirred for around half an hour at ambient temperature until products completely separated. The precipitates were then filtered off under reduced pressure by a Büchi funnel and washed by ethanol-water mixtures whenever necessary to furnish the desired product. No tedious chromatographic purification was needed.
