with palladium on activated charcoal at 120; for 12 h;
Steps:
General procedure: To a solution of 5 g (10-2mole) of oily carbonyl 1 or 2 was added 0.25g (10 %) of palladium on activated charcoal. The mixture was heated to 120 °C during 12 hours for obtaining the product 3. The product 4 was prepared as described for 3 by increasing the temperature to 160 °C. The reaction is allowed to cool and then 20 mL of dichloromethane was added. The mixture was filtered and the residue obtained was subjected directly to flash column chromatography (silica gel) using hexane/ethyl acetate (98/2) as eluent
