Avermectin B1a aglycone 13.
Avermectin B1a (20.0g, 22.9mmol) was added to a solution of 5% H2SO4 in MeOH (20mL of H2SO4,380mL of MeOH) and stirred at 18oC under N2 for 16h. ThenCHCl3 (300mL) was added, and the solution was transferred into aseparatory funnel, washed with aqueous sodium bicarbonate, dried, andconcentrated in vacuo to 24.0gof yellow foam. Then MeOH was added to this residue, which slowly crystallized.The crystalline residues were recrystallized from MeOH to give 5.7g of compound 13.
