Example 4. 3-(2-(2-azidoethoxy)ethoxy)propanoic acid (87).The azide compound 86 (2.51 g, 9.68 mmol) dissolved in 1,4-dioxane (30 mL) and was added 10 ml of HC1 (conc.). The mixture was stirred for 35 mm, diluted with EtOH (30 ml) and toluene (30 ml) and evacuated under vacuum. The crude mixture was purified on silica gel using a mixture of methanol (from 5% to 10%) and 1% formic acid in methylene chloride as the eluant to give title compound 87 (1.63 g, 83% yield), ESI MS mlz20 C7H,2N304 (M-H), cacld. 202.06, found 202.30.
