5 Example 5; Preparation of β-mangostin:
The β-mangostin-OMe (VI) 50mg (0.114mmol) was dissolved in 3ml DMSO, was added CH 3 ONa92.3mg (1.71mmol), was slowly warmed to reflux under N 2, for 4 hours, cooled to room temperature, the reaction mixture poured into 20ml of water, made acid with 10% HCl, the precipitated solid was dark yellow, suction filtration, dried, purified by column chromatography (petroleum ether: ethyl acetate = 8) to give a yellow solid β-mangostin179mg, yield 70.3%.
