Steps:
1 Example 1 Synthesis of chloromethyl methyl ether (MOMCl) (IV)
26 mL (0.225 mol) of benzoyl chloride (I) and 20 mL (0.225 mol) of dimethoxymethane (II) dissolved in a 100mL reaction bottle was added 0.6 mL (3 mol%) of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid at 60°C. 1H NMR monitoring, 0.5h for reaction completion. Post-processing: The resulting reaction solution was pumped to a washed cold trap in a water bath, and then atmospheric pressure. Distilled at 80°C to give pure product MOMCl (IV) 17.85g, isolated yield was 98%.
