General procedure for the hydrobromination of alkene 1a with hydrobromic acid mediated by silica gel
General procedure: 47% Hydrobromic acid (1.38 g, 8.0mmol) was gradually added to a mixture of 1a (280 mg, 2.0 mmol)and silica gel 60 (63-200 μm, spherical, Nacalai Tesque, 5.0g) in a 25 mL flask at 0 °C. After stirring the mixture at 300 rpm until it fully mixes, the mixture was treated in a manner similar to the procedure described above to give 3a (380 mg, 86%).
