General procedure: A solution of the commerciallyavailable enantiopure 2-aminobutyric acid (1.00 g, 10 mmol) and perchloric acid(70%, 5.0 g, 83 mmol) in tert-butylacetate(150 mL) was stirred at r.t. for 48 h and extracted with cold (0 °C) 0.5 Mhydrochloric acid (2 × 50 mL). Thecombined aqueous layers were carefully neutralized with solid NaHCO₃and extracted with diethyl ether (3 × 100 mL). The combined organic layers were dried overMgSO₄ and the solvent was evaporated to give the product (>98 %,GC) as a viscose oil, which was used without further purification.
