Synthesis of 7a
A mixture of 6a (10.0 g, 49.6 mmol), 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU, 15.0 mL, 100 mmol), and iodomethane (7.8 mL, 0.13 mol) in dry acetonitrile (82 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 1.5 h and concentrated under reduced pressure. Water and ethyl acetate were added, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with 1 mol/L hydrochloric acid and brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and concentrated in vacuo. Purification with silica gel column chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate = 6/1) afforded 7a (9.81g, 92%) as a pale yellow solid.
