Steps:
Acetylation of α-aminonitriles with thioacetate.
General procedure: α-Aminonitrile hydrochloride (AA-CN*HCl; 50 mM) and potassium thioacetate (AcSK; 150 mM) were dissolved in H2O (2 ml) and the solution was adjusted topH 9.0 with NaOH. Potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) (K3[Fe(CN)6]; 450 mM) was added, and the solution was stirred at room temperature for 20 min. The solution was adjusted to pH 9.0 and centrifuged, and NMR spectra of the supernatant were acquired. Yields are reported in Table 1 and characterization data in Supplementary Information.
