Steps:

N-hydroxy cyclopentane carboximidamide

To a solution of cyclopentane carbonitrile (1.00 g, 10.5 mmol) in ethanol (10.0 mL) were added hydroxylamine hydrochloride (803 mg, 11.6 mmol) and sodium ethanolate (858 mg, 12.6 mmol) at 25 °C. The reaction mixture was stirred at 90 °C for 16 hours. The mixture was filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give N-hydroxy cyclopentane carboximidamide (1.00 g, 74% yield) as light yellow oil. LC-MS (method 4): R_t= 0.149 min; MS (ESIpos): m/z = 129.0 [M+H]⁺
