Steps:
N2-Methyl-L-leucinamide (10)
To a solution of N-methyl-L-leucine (5.00 g, 34.4 mmol) in methanol (140 ml) was added thionyl chloride (7.82 ml, 103 mmol) at 0 °C. After being stirred at room temperature for 16 h, the reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give crude methyl ester hydrochloride (6.85 g) as white solids. This material was used for next reaction further purification.
