To a stirred solution of compound 3-2 (36.5 g, 103 mmol) in anhydrous MeOH (400 mL) was added NaOMe. The resulting solution was refluxed for 16 hours at 80° C. The reaction was quenched with CO2 (gas). The precipitate was removed by filtration, and the filtrate was concentrated. The residue was dissolved in THF and washed with brine and dried over Na2SO4. The solvent was removed, and the residue was purified on a silica gel column (MeOH/DCM=1/100 to 1/10) to afford compound 3-3 as a white solid (21.4 g, 93%).
