Vorbereitung Methode

If phenol is sulfonated with an equal amount of 100% sulfuric acid under mild conditions, a mixture consisting of 2-hydroxy- and 4-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid in a ratio of roughly 2:3 is obtained. The 2-hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid (o-hydroxybenzenesulphonic acid) can be isolated from this mixturevia the monobarium salt. The pure compound is obtained by diazotizing 2- aminobenzenesulfonic acid and boiling it under acid conditions.
