FENFLUTHRIN Chemical Properties,Uses,Production
Production Methods
The commercial production of fenfluthrin is not described in open literature but its structure and class make the commercial route well understood: production followed the standard pyrethroid ester assembly process, in which a cyclopropanecarboxylic acid derivative, bearing the 2,2 dichloroethenyl substituent characteristic of fenfluthrin, is synthesised and then esterified with a fluorinated aromatic alcohol to generate the final active ester. This multi step sequence involves constructing the substituted cyclopropane ring, introducing the dichloroethenyl moiety, and coupling it with the pentafluorophenyl type alcohol to yield technical grade fenfluthrin.
