Testosterone propionate

Testosterone propionate is a commonly used oil-based injectable testosterone compound. The added propionate slows the release of the steroid from the injection site, but only for a few days.

As a result, testosterone propionate acts much more quickly than other testosterone esters such as cyclovalproate or heptanate and requires a more frequent dosing schedule. While cyclopropionate and heptanate are given weekly, propionate is usually given (at least) every three days.The figure illustrates a typical release pattern after injection.
