Bremelanotide (INN, USAN), formerly known as PT-141, is a polypeptide drug developed by Palatin Technologies for the treatment of female sexual dysfunction (FSD), hemorrhagic shock, and reperfusion injury. Bremelanotide was initially tested as an intranasal treatment for FSD, but was temporarily discontinued in 2008 due to concerns about elevated blood pressure in some patients taking the drug. As of December 2014, Palatin is in phase III studies in humans using a subcutaneous delivery system that appears to have little effect on blood pressure.
