| Description | Gap 26 is a mimetic peptide corresponding to the residues 63-75 of connexin 43, which is a gap junction blocker. |
| In vitro | Oscillatory behaviour was abolished by Gap 26 at concentrations of 100-300 microM (IC50 of 20-30 microM), without a change in average tone. No synergy was evident between peptides corresponding to the extracellular loops, and cytoplasmic loop peptides were biologically inactive [1]. Photoliberating InsP(3) in a single cell within a confluent culture triggered an intercellular calcium wave, which was inhibited by the connexin mimetic peptide gap 26 [2]. |
