| Description | VBIT-3 is a voltage-dependent anion channel 1 (VDAC1) oligomerization inhibitor (Kd: 31.3 μM). VBIT-3 also is an apoptosis inhibitor, can be used for therapeutic purposes in apoptosis-associated disorders (such as neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases). |
| In vitro | VBIT-3 targets the mitochondrial protein VDAC1 and inhibits apoptosis and protect against mitochondria dysfunction. VBIT-3 (0.1-10 μM) inhibits VDAC1 oligomerization, Cyto c release from mitochondria and apoptosis (in HEK-293 cells, IC50s of 8.8±0.56 μM, 6.6±1.03 μM, and 7.5±0.27 μM, respectively). |
