白細(xì)胞介素11（IL-11）是一種多效性細(xì)胞因子，可刺激巨核細(xì)胞生成從而增加血小板產(chǎn)量，同時(shí)激活破骨細(xì)胞、抑制上皮細(xì)胞增殖與凋亡，并能抑制巨噬細(xì)胞介質(zhì)釋放。這些功能對介導(dǎo)IL-11的造血調(diào)控、骨代謝及黏膜保護(hù)作用尤為重要。該細(xì)胞因子還具有抗炎活性，已被提議作為克羅恩病和類風(fēng)濕關(guān)節(jié)炎等慢性炎癥性疾病的治療制劑。盡管早期認(rèn)為IL-11僅存在于哺乳動物，后續(xù)研究證實(shí)其在魚類中亦有表達(dá)。雖然魚類與哺乳動物IL-11的基因結(jié)構(gòu)高度相似且關(guān)鍵氨基酸保守，但二者整體氨基酸同源性較低，其功能可能并不完全對等。
