The protein has a calculated MW of 18.5 kDa. The protein migrates as 35-45 kDa when calibrated against Star Ribbon Pre-stained Protein Marker under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

白細胞介素18結合蛋白（IL18BP）亦稱為Tadekinig-alfa、IL18BPa，其功能為IL18抑制劑。該蛋白是一種分泌型蛋白，包含一個免疫球蛋白樣C2型結構域。由于缺乏跨膜結構域，IL18BP不會錨定在細胞膜上。其在心臟、肺、胎盤和脾臟中呈現(xiàn)高表達。IL18BP的A亞型可與IL-18結合并抑制其活性，還能作為早期TH1細胞因子反應的抑制劑。該蛋白通過抑制γ干擾素（IFN-γ）的產(chǎn)生，進而削弱1型輔助T細胞（Th1）的免疫應答。
